THE FIRST FRUIT OF A NEW ASSOCIATION BETWEEN MARK MORRISS AND ACID JAZZ RECORDS IS AN EIGHT SONG EP, TO BE RELEASED ON 9TH DECEMBER.
The EP’s lead track, THIS IS THE LIE (AND THAT’S THE TRUTH), is taken from A FLASH OF DARKNESS, the ex-frontman of The Bluetones’ second solo album, also due to be issued by Acid Jazz in February next year. Listen to SPACE CADET and CONSUELA, from it, below.
Eleven track A FLASH OF DARKNESS had a limited edition release earlier in 2013 following a successful Pledge Music campaign. Morriss, who toured as part of new label-mate Matt Berry’s band during the summer, signed with Acid Jazz at the end of July.
The EP also includes a demo of album track LIFE WITHOUT F(R)ICTION, plus the collection of theme pieces Morriss composed for audiobook readings of BILLIONAIRE BOY, GANGSTA GRANNY, MR STINK, DEMON DENTIST, THE BOY IN THE DRESS and RATBURGER, the hugely popular children’s stories written by David Walliams. THIS IS THE LIE will be available in a limited edition CD wallet. He begins a handful of headlining solo dates tomorrow, in Bristol, before supporting Shed Seven on the Britpop band’s 13-date UK tour, which runs throughout December. Morriss then concludes his year with a solo show in Eastney.
