PAUL CARRACK

SHEFFIELD-BORN PAUL CARRACK IS ABOUT TO RETURN WITH THESE DAYS – A BRAND NEW STUDIO ALBUM OF ‘GROWN UP POP MUSIC’…

THESE DAYS is Carrack’s seventeenth solo album – a run which began back in 1980, but which has been building independent momentum since the former Ace frontman formed his own label in 2000. His initial breakthrough came decades earlier, when he wrote and sang HOW LONG, the much-covered 1974 classic from Ace. Subsequently, he was also the voice of Squeeze’s TEMPTED, and has enjoyed hits with Mike + the Mechanics; OVER MY SHOULDER and enduring ‘male weepie’ THE LIVING YEARS. Decades of distinction include having his songs covered by Diana Ross and The Eagles, and playing sessions with The Smiths, Roxy Music, BB King and countless others, culminating in a personal request from Eric Clapton to join his touring band. New album THESE DAYS is music made by – and for – people who’ve had the ups and downs life unfailingly provides. In this new edition of The Mouthcast Carrack discusses the album, and also reflects on his Sheffield roots – plus his session for The Smiths and the personal impact of THE LIVING YEARS…
