HIGH HAZELS

IT’S BEEN A LITTLE WHILE SINCE HIGH HAZELS – ONE OF THE FINEST BANDS TO EMERGE FROM SHEFFIELD IN RECENT YEARS – HAVE ISSUED NEW MATERIAL.

A hiatus of a couple of years since their fine debut album has seen the band soak in new influences and refine their sound. Still unmistakably High Hazels (the intricate guitar work and tight rhythm section remain intact), the five track WEAK SUN EP – out today on Heist Or Hit – introduces new dimensions to the band’s writing. Psychedelia, darkness and (almost) the use of space as an instrument in itself are recurring themes. In this new edition of The Mouthcast, recorded just a couple of days before release of WEAK SUN, we catch up with old pal JAMES LEESLEY. The frontman of the band talks us through High Hazels’ new direction and casts an eye back over the last few years…
