SWEET GUM TREE with ISOBEL CAMPBELL : new single

A DECADE AS GUITARIST IN VARIOUS ROCK AND ELECTRO BANDS PAVED THE WAY FOR FRENCH SINGER-SONGWRITER ARNO SOJO’S NEW SOLO PROJECT, SWEET GUM TREE. INFLUENCED BY THE TIMELESSNESS OF VINTAGE RECORDS, BIRD OF PASSAGE FEATURES VOCALS BY ISOBEL CAMPBELL.
Intriguing homeland audiences with EPs showcasing organic chamber pop, from 2010 to 2012, poetic Sweet Gum Tree soon began sharing stages with such luminaries as Heather Nova and Gaëtan Roussel. 2013 saw Sojo put the final touches to a debut album (UK release in February 2014).
A collection of bittersweet ballads and thoughtful melancholia, eleven track THE SNAKES YOU CHARM & THE WOLVES YOU TAME was produced by David Odlum (Gemma Hayes) and Peter Deimel (Anna Calvi) at Studio Black Box, in the countryside near France’s Loire valley.
Isobel Campbell, known for her time as part of indie legends Belle & Sebastian and her series of striking collaborations with Mark Lanegan, provided vocals for the string-laden BIRD OF PASSAGE; while Tindersticks drummer Earl Harvin and Marty Willson-Piper (from Australian legends The Church) – two of Arno’s strongest influences – not only played on the album but will also join the Sweet Gum Tree live band, along with a string section, for a short UK tour in February.
