MARK MORRISS (THE BLUETONES)

IN 2015 THE FRONTMAN OF THE BLUETONES RELEASED HIS THIRD SOLO ALBUM. THE TASTE OF MARK MORRISS WAS A COLLECTION OF CHOICE COVER VERSIONS. AN UNUSUAL MOVE FOR THE SONGWRITER, BUT A PROJECT EMBARKED UPON WITH A DELIBERATE INTENT – TO SHAKE OFF A PERIOD OF WRITER’S BLOCK.
Two years on and the flow is well and truly back. Mark has completed work on his adventurous fourth solo record (LOOK UP), which sees him experimenting with unusual arrangements and contains several unexpected twists and turns of the songwriting pen. LOOK UP will be available early next year, but there’s an exclusive track from it in this new edition of The Mouthcast. Recorded before a show on what has now become the annual summer tour by The Bluetones, Mark discusses both the new album and the covers album. He also reflects on his ‘solo career life’ as a wandering minstrel and talks about why we shouldn’t ever expect any new material from The Bluetones. Also included are around 25 minutes of highlights from Mark’s show for The Mouth Magazine earlier this year…
