HAZEL O’CONNOR

HAZEL O’CONNOR’S STARRING ROLE IN 1980 HIT MOVIE BREAKING GLASS ENSURED SHE WAS A HOUSEHOLD NAME. IN THE AFTERMATH SHE RELEASED A STRING OF UK TOP TEN SINGLES AND THREE OF HER MOST SUCCESSFUL ALBUMS: THE BREAKING GLASS SOUNDTRACK (PRODUCED BY LONG-TERM BOWIE ASSOCIATE TONY VISCONTI, AND FOR WHICH HAZEL WROTE ALL TWELVE SONGS) PLUS FOLLOW-UPS SONS AND LOVERS AND COVER PLUS.
Now Hazel has announced a full-band UK tour for November and December, at which she’ll be playing a selection of tracks from those albums. In this frank and fascinating (and specially extended) new edition of The Mouthcast, Hazel speaks on the telephone from her cottage in Ireland and discusses BREAKING GLASS in depth. She also looks back on other aspects of her music career, and reflects on moments when she feels it may have gone awry. On a personal note she reflects on the current “Harvey Weinstein stuff” going on, and looks back at being raped when she was young and the effect that attack had on her life…
