THE SECOND ALBUM BY MATT JOHNSON PROJECT THE THE – A FOLLOW-UP TO 1983’S ACCLAIMED SOUL MINING – WAS A HIGHLY ATMOSPHERIC TREATISE ON LUST, OBSESSION, RELIGION, POLITICS, OPPRESSION AND DEATH.
Though 1989’s MIND BOMB was more cerebral, expansive and informed, the anger at the heart of Johnson’s expression of these recurring themes was perhaps never more viscerally realised than on INFECTED. In this new edition of The Mouthcast – the longest to date – Johnson discusses his work. He also reflects on the rise of ISIS, the popularity of Jeremy Corbyn and the decline of mainstream media in the face of the democratising advance of the internet…
