WE’RE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE SEVENTH EVENT TO BE STAGED BY THE MOUTH MAGAZINE – AND DELIGHTED TO REVEAL THAT THE HEADLINER IS DAVID FORD. THIS SECOND 2015 SUMMER SPECIAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT CAFÉ INDIEPENDENT IN SCUNTHORPE ON FRIDAY 17TH JULY 2015.
David Ford’s credentials as one of the finest songwriters and live performers the UK has to offer are legendary. Despite his inventive use of looping techniques, it’s the songs themselves that impress the most. His blend of rakish upbeat tales and heartfelt balladry is delivered with total commitment – it’s been said that perhaps only Springsteen works harder on stage. In an interview with The Mouth Magazine last year Ford said “I never want to come off stage at the end of a show feeling like I could have done more”. At our Summer Special he will perform songs from critically acclaimed albums I SINCERELY APOLOGISE FOR ALL THE TROUBLE I’VE CAUSED, CHARGE (which, in 2013, topped the iTunes chart and was named album of the year by both THE WORD magazine and THE SUNDAY TIMES), LET THE HARD TIMES ROLL and SONGS FOR THE ROAD.
Support at our second SUMMER SPECIAL will come from Connor Dunk, and doors will open at 7pm for 7.30 start. Admission is £10, with tickets now available to buy from SeeTickets (here). Click the poster (above) for further details. Last year Ford performed a three-song live session for The Mouth Magazine – watch all three songs in the playlist below.
Previous shows hosted by The Mouth Magazine include the AUTUMN SPECIAL and SUNDAY SPECIAL, both headlined by Rachel Sermanni, and the WINTER SPECIAL headlined by Martin Stephenson of The Daintees. Most recently Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff read extracts from his recently published memoir and performed acoustic versions of his band’s early songs at our EASTER SPECIAL. Highlights from each of these gigs featured in special editions of The Mouthcast. Other shows coming up include our BANK HOLIDAY SPECIAL on Saturday 2nd May, headlined by top-notch Sheffield four-piece High Hazels (see here for details) and our first SUMMER SPECIAL featuring Mark Morriss of newly re-formed Britpoppers The Bluetones (see here for details).
