THE FIRST EIGHT ALBUMS FROM THE WEDDING PRESENT – GEORGE BEST, TOMMY, BIZARRO, SEAMONSTERS, THE HIT PARADE, WATUSI, MINI AND SATURNALIA – WILL BE REISSUED IN METICULOUSLY CURATED, EXTENSIVE AND HIGHLY DESIRABLE MULTI-DISC SETS ON 27TH OCTOBER.

The band followed 1989’s BIZARRO with the Steve Albini-produced SEAMONSTERS, charting much darker waters in 1991. In 2012 David Gedge talked about that album (and THE HIT PARADE, the 1992 series of monthly single releases) in The Mouthcast. A small section of that conversation is reproduced in part two of this newly recorded double edition, alongside discussion of 1994’s WATUSI (the only album released by The Wedding Present on Island Records), the six-track mini-album MINI and the full-length album SATURNALIA (both on Cooking Vinyl in 1996). One of the extra features included in the WATUSI set is a bizarre appearance on Esther Rantzen’s BBC TV chat show, with the band performing ‘single that never was’ SWIMMING POOLS, MOVIE STARS. Gedge reveals how the band ended up on afternoon TV, here…
