THE FIRST EIGHT ALBUMS FROM THE WEDDING PRESENT – GEORGE BEST, TOMMY, BIZARRO, SEAMONSTERS, THE HIT PARADE, WATUSI, MINI AND SATURNALIA – WILL BE REISSUED IN METICULOUSLY CURATED, EXTENSIVE AND HIGHLY DESIRABLE MULTI-DISC SETS ON 27TH OCTOBER.

The band’s founding member David Gedge has mined his personal archive and worked with label Edsel at every stage to ensure that these releases tell the ‘definitive’ story of The Wedding Present’s first decade. A remastered version of each album is housed in its own hardback book which contains (for the first time) lyrics alongside extensive liner notes plus imagery and memorabilia from around the original release.
Also included in each set is a DVD featuring promo videos, contemporary live and television appearances plus an interview with David Gedge focusing on the relevant album and a new acoustic session track (recorded in his flat in Hove). Two additional CDs per set (just one for MINI) collect up every b-side and non-album track alongside alternate versions, radio sessions, concert recordings and previously unissued demos.
In the first of a new and extensive two part edition of The Mouthcast, David Gedge discusses The Wedding Present’s early years – in particular 1987 debut GEORGE BEST, 1988 compilation TOMMY (which gathered together early pre-GEORGE BEST singles and radio sessions) and the band’s 1989 major-label release BIZARRO… One of the extra features included in the BIZARRO set is The Wedding Present’s memorable debut appearance on BBC TV’s TOP OF THE POPS, with Gedge standing still and mumbling his way through BRASSNECK – and he reveals why, here…
