THE TITLE TRACK OF MORRISSEY’S FORTHCOMING STUDIO ALBUM – HIS FIRST FOR FIVE YEARS – HAS BEEN ISSUED AS A SINGLE, TODAY. A SPOKEN-WORD VIDEO VERSION OF WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS HAS ALSO BEEN RELEASED.
The curious new clip features a cameo appearance from LA-neighbour Nancy Sinatra, and Morrissey being very good at being 21st-century Morrissey while reciting the new song’s lyrics.
The new album will be released on 15th July through Harvest, in two editions; 12-track standard, plus 18-track deluxe featuring six extra songs. Surprisingly, WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS includes only two of the previously unreleased songs premiered in concert by Morrissey in the last few years; SCANDINAVIA and ART-HOUNDS appear as additional tracks on the deluxe edition – though THE KID’S A LOOKER, PEOPLE ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE and ACTION IS MY MIDDLE NAME don’t get a look-in…
BBC Radio session versions of those three songs (recorded for Janice Long in 2011) featured as b-sides on the reissued THE LAST OF THE FAMOUS INTERNATIONAL PLAYBOYS single in early 2013. A Tony Visconti-produced session version of SCANDINAVIA featured as an extra on the recent 25 LIVE blu-ray and DVD. Pre-order WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS here.
Morrissey’s 1994 masterpiece VAUXHALL AND I is to be reissued in a two-disc anniversary edition in early June. Read our behind-the-scenes article on it here.
