ANNA CALVI FOLLOWS UP THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ONE BREATH, ITSELF THE SUCCESSOR TO HER STRIKING MERCURY NOMINATED 2011 DEBUT, WITH A COVERS EP.
STRANGE WEATHER, titled after Calvi’s version of a track from the Paris-based singer Keren Ann’s 2011 album 101, will be released on 14th July. Produced by Thomas Bartlett (Antony and the Johnsons, Sam Amidon and The National) the new five-track release will be available on 12″, CD and download.
STRANGE WEATHER itself features guest vocals from David Byrne, as does a version of I’M THE MAN, THAT WILL FIND YOU (originally by New Zealander Connan Mockasin). Byrne says “I’m a big fan of Anna’s two records: ‘Epic’, I think, is the word that is often used”… The new EP also features songs by David Bowie (LADY GRINNING SOUL from 1973’s ALADDIN SANE) and Suicide (GHOST RIDER from the band’s eponymous 1977 debut) alongside a version of the FKA twigs track PAPA PACIFY.
