MORRISSEY : new album

MORRISSEY TODAY REVEALED THE IMMINENT RELEASE OF HIS TENTH ALBUM. WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR LATE JUNE OR EARLY JULY.

The singer (whose tour of the USA in May and June includes dates on which he’ll be supported by British retro-icons Cliff Richard and Tom Jones) is said to be “beyond ecstatic” with his new 12 track album. Recorded over the last few weeks in France, with production by Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, The Killers), WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS will be issued on Harvest Records, through Capitol, and is Morrissey’s first new studio material since 2009’s YEARS OF REFUSAL. It’s likely that the previously unreleased songs performed during concerts over the last few years will be included; PEOPLE ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE, ACTION IS MY MIDDLE NAME, THE KID’S A LOOKER, SCANDINAVIA, ART-HOUNDS and ISTANBUL.

Tony Visconti-engineered live in-studio session versions of four of those songs were included as extras on the recent 25 LIVE DVD. A live version of Lou Reed’s SATELLITE OF LOVE (recorded in 2011) was released as a single late last year, with Morrissey also performing the song at the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize concert in Norway in December; the Mick Ronson-produced 1992 album YOUR ARSENAL was reissued in February as a double-disc edition; and Morrissey’s entertaining AUTOBIOGRAPHY topped the UK’s non-fiction charts for several weeks in late 2013.
