THE WEDDING PRESENT: new single and live album

DAVID GEDGE IS ABOUT TO TAKE THE WEDDING PRESENT OUT ON A SIX WEEK EUROPEAN TOUR, INCLUDING A STRING OF DATES IN THE UK IN OCTOBER TO COINCIDE WITH THE RELEASE OF A LIMITED EDITION SINGLE.
two bridgesTWO BRIDGES, the a-side (listen below), is the band’s first new material since the VALENTINA album and its accompanying French and German EPs during 2012. A cover of WHOLE WIDE WORLD by Wreckless Eric, is the b-side.
The single, released on the band’s own label Scopitones, is a strictly limited edition 7″ vinyl (with download code), and will be available only at concerts on The Wedding Present’s UK tour – it won’t be for sale in the shops. If there are any copies left over they will most likely be made available directly from the band’s online store,

1992Also available from the store – new out today, in fact – is LIVE 1992, the latest CD remastering of the band’s popular series of official bootleg cassettes, originally only available at gigs or by mail order. The new double-CD includes mixing-desk recordings of concerts in The Netherlands and London, with 38 tracks drawing heavily from the record-breaking HIT PARADE project of 1992 – when The Wedding Present released a new single every month and equalled Elvis Presley’s 1957 feat of 12 UK chart hits in a year. In line with the band’s recent habit of theming tours around particular releases, the forthcoming dates are also set to draw heavily from this period of the band’s history.
In addition, later this year Edsel Records plan to reissue The Wedding Present’s first eight albums as deluxe 3xCD/DVD editions, which promise to become the definitive versions of these releases.
TOMMY, GEORGE BEST, BIZARRO, SEAMONSTERS, THE HIT PARADE, WATUSI (which has been out of print since its original release), MINI and SATURNALIA will feature previously unavailable bonus audio alongside original artwork, new packaging, new sleeve notes and ephemera from David Gedge’s own extensive collection.

Gedge featured on an edition of The Mouthcast late last year (listen again here) and the band performed an exclusive two track session (watch below) featuring DEER CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS (from VALENTINA) and SUCK (from 1991 classic SEAMONSTERS).
