ARCADE FIRE: new single and album

ANTON CORBIJN’S VIDEO FOR REFLEKTOR, THE SINGLE FROM ARCADE FIRE’S NEW ALBUM, HAS BEEN RELEASED ONLINE.
REFLEKTOR2The hotly anticipated 13 track album – also titled REFLEKTOR – was recorded at Electric Lady in New York and produced by James Murphy. It’s the Canadian band’s follow-up to Brit Award-winning THE SUBURBS (2010), and is due to be released on 29th October. The cover portrays the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, as sculpted by Rodin.
The single – which has been confirmed to feature guest vocals from David Bowie – is available here. Bowie’s last officially released recording, prior to his surprise comeback earlier this year with the album THE NEXT DAY, was an EP in 2005 featuring duets with Arcade Fire on versions of the band’s WAKE UP and his own LIFE ON MARS? and FIVE YEARS.
REFLEKTORIn addition to director Anton Corbijn’s video for the single REFLEKTOR (which sounds as if Arcade Fire may have been listening to a lot of Talking Heads records in the three years since THE SUBURBS), there is a second – interactive – video available: play online here. Viewers are able to control the effects used in the video, which was written, directed and produced by longtime collaborator Vincent Morisset and filmed in Haiti. Read about the making of it here and explore the technology used to create it here… Arcade Fire will tour in 2014.
