AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND 2012 SEES THE EIGHTH ANNUAL GALTRES FESTIVAL STAGED IN THE BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF CRAYKE, NEAR YORK (UK).
The Mouth Magazine is proudly packing the office pipe and chuffing with enormous good cheer at having been invited to send along its crack team to pitch tent and party.
Part beer festival, part musical extravaganza, Galtres began life as a modest affair staged round the back of a pub, but has grown into a much-anticipated ‘perfect sized’ event supporting charities, and embracing the wares of small businesses in the food and drink industry.
On Friday 24th August this year it returns for a three-day extravaganza featuring an abundance of unusual small-brewery ales and ciders, top quality food, plenty of family activities, and a musical line-up which looks like the very best Crayke has yet seen.
The main bands over the weekend include Billy Bragg, Buzzcocks, Seth Lakeman, Adam Ant, Ash, Martin Stephenson, Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), The Guillemots, The Men They Couldn’t Hang and Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene. Support comes from around a hundred other acts across seven stages – including plenty of bands from across the region.
We’re currently working hard behind-the-scenes to prepare for podcasts and photo diaries from the festival, in which we’ll bring you a flavour of Galtres – plus we’ll be chatting to some very special guests and, perhaps, presenting an exclusive performance or two. Don’t say we never spoil you…
