ALAN DAVIES IS, PERHAPS, MOST WELL KNOWN FOR HIS STARRING ROLE IN BBC TV MYSTERY SERIES JONATHAN CREEK AND AS THE LONG SUFFERING STOOGE TO STEPHEN FRY AND BILL BAILEY ON ERUDITE QUIZ SHOW QI.
In 2012 he returned to stand-up comedy for the first time in over a decade, touring his show LIFE IS PAIN. He’s now followed it up with LITTLE VICTORIES (see below for a link to tour dates) in which he discusses being a father – Davies and his wife had children in 2009 and 2011.
His autobiographical book MY FAVOURITE PEOPLE AND ME 1978 – 88 was published in 2009, and used his personal icons (John Lennon, Paul Weller, Ian Botham, Tony Benn, Arthur Scargill, John Belushi and John Peel amongst many others) as jumping off points to talk about his youth. In this new edition of The Mouthcast Davies discusses some of the people featured in that book, and also explains why he’d originally wanted to title his new stand-up show SEX IS PAIN…
