A FLASH OF DARKNESS – THE SECOND SOLO ALBUM FROM MARK MORRISS – WAS RELEASED BACK IN JANUARY. THE EX-BLUETONES FRONTMAN IS SET TO PUT OUT WHAT HE CALLS A ‘STOPGAP’ FOLLOW-UP NEXT SPRING – AN ALBUM OF COVER VERSIONS.

No stranger to the delights of other people’s material (in the past he’s performed Duran Duran’s RIO and Foreigner’s I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS, and recorded studio versions of Teenage Fanclub’s ALCOHOLIDAY, The Pixies’ GOUGE AWAY, Girls Aloud’s CALL THE SHOTS, The Shins’ PINK BULLETS and even Barbra Streisand’s Gibb-brothers-penned WOMAN IN LOVE), his next album will doubtlessly see further unexpected choices of songs.
Morriss filmed a two track session with us earlier on in 2014 (playlist, right) and now offers a studio recording which won’t make it onto the covers album as an exclusive for a new edition of The Mouthcast. He also reveals his motivation for recording an album of other people’s songs, and reflects on the current state of the music industry…
