ANOTHER TRACK TAKEN FROM MORRISSEY’S FORTHCOMING STUDIO ALBUM WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS – HIS FIRST NEW MATERIAL FOR FIVE YEARS – HAS BEEN ISSUED AS A SINGLE, TODAY. A SPOKEN-WORD VIDEO FOR ISTANBUL HAS ALSO BEEN RELEASED ONLINE.
ISTANBUL is the second in a series of short films directed by Natalie Johns at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Last week two were released – the title track of the album (with neighbour Nancy Sinatra making a cameo appearance) plus THE BULLFIGHTER DIES.
Morrissey’s WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS explores the tragedy of human apathy in our turbulent era. It was produced by Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, The Shins, The Killers) at La Fabrique in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France.
The album will be released on 15th July through Harvest, in two ediions; a 12-track standard, plus an 18-track deluxe with six extra songs. Surprisingly, WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS includes only two of the previously unreleased songs premiered in concert in the last few years; SCANDINAVIA and ART-HOUNDS appear on the deluxe edition – though PEOPLE ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE, THE KID’S A LOOKER and ACTION IS MY MIDDLE NAME don’t… BBC Radio sessions of the three songs (for Janice Long in 2011) featured as b-sides on last year’s reissue of 1989 single THE LAST OF THE FAMOUS INTERNATIONAL PLAYBOYS. A Tony Visconti-produced session version of SCANDINAVIA featured on the recent 25 LIVE blu-ray and DVD.
