A FLASH OF DARKNESS – THE SECOND SOLO ALBUM FROM MARK MORRISS – WAS RELEASED IN JANUARY.

Morriss, who also recently toured as part of label-mate Matt Berry’s band, penned a deal with label Acid Jazz last summer. In December the label issued first fruit of their new working relationship with the ex-Bluetones frontman: an EP featuring one of the standout songs from his album alongside several short instrumental themes recorded for the audio versions of children’s books written by David Walliams. Making his welcome hat-trick appearance on The Mouthcast – in an edition recorded around the release of the eleven track A FLASH OF DARKNESS – Morriss discussed those audiobook themes and revealed what signing to a new label offers an artist such as himself. Morriss is on tour throughout the UK this summer, and performs a series of full-band shows in October. The lunchtime after a solo gig in Hull last week, Morriss met up with The Mouth Magazine to film an exclusive video session (playlist, left), which included a stripped-down version of a much-loved album track by his former group and – from A FLASH OF DARKNESS – a wonderful performance of CONSUELA…
